We regularly like to take some time to notice some of the great creative work being done by the folks at the north Georgia Art Guild. The NGAG was found in 1994 in Rabun County with the mission of bringing together artists and people interested in the arts to share knowledge, expertise, and friendship; promote the arts and artists of North Georgia, and provide opportunities for artists to exhibit and sell their artwork.  The Guild sponsors workshops, art related field trips, and numerous art shows.

This month we are featuring Randy Sells, a talented basketry artist. She began her craft at a very young age, weaving her first basket during her time as a Brownie Scout.

Since her humble beginnings, she has continued to admire and collect baskets. Finally, after 38 years in public service she was able to indulge her passion and work toward mastering her craft.

She has a diverse background of influences with a specific focus on the traditional baskets of Appalachia.

Each and every basket Sells creates is a unique piece featuring a variety of materials, styles and methods. They are all hand dyed with custom colors.

Her baskets are available locally in several locations including Soque Art Works, Cottage Garden Furniture in Clarksville and The Dream Givers Art Gallery in Toccoa. To learn more about the North Georgia Arts Guild visit:
