CAN TALKS

The Barbara Stone Foundation Hosts ‘CAN Talks,’ An Event Where Ideas and Stories Will Challenge The Status Quo and Broaden Your Perspective

The Barbara Stone Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on supporting visionary and creative programs for individuals with disabilities, will host a special event called ‘CAN Talks’ where six individuals with disabilities living in the Upstate will share ideas that will spark new conversations, challenge outdated stereotypes and broaden everyone’s perspective.

Presenting sponsors, Michelin North America and Bon Secours, are helping make ‘CAN Talks’ possible, which will also include a special guest performance by Ryan Niemiller, a 2019 finalist on “Americas Got Talent” who is a comedian with a disability.

‘CAN Talks’ will be held October 22, 2019 from 7:00pm – 8:30pm at Centre Stage, 501 River Street in Greenville and admission is $15. Tickets can be purchased at www.GVLCANtalks.org. A sign language interpreter will be available for hearing impaired and special accommodations will be made for guests upon request.

“People with disabilities are people first, “ said Mike Teachey, executive director of the Barbara Stone Foundation. “When we define a person by their disability, we create barriers rooted in false assumptions and outdated stereotypes. CAN Talks will be an enlightening evening that will broaden your perspective about individuals with disabilities and challenge the status quo.”
